Your Daily Euro 2008 Update

Yeah, he's flopping.

The group B matches were played today with Germany losing to Croatia and Austria tying Poland. Basically, today was a terrible day and if you didn't watch you made a wise decision. I for some reason watched Germany choke against Croatia in a terribly slow and boring game in which Ivica Olic scored in the 23rd minute and Darijo Srna put the game away in the 63rd minute after a lucky bounce off the post left him with an empty net behind the entire German defense. Lukas Podolski added a goal after the 80th minute but by that point the game was already lost so Germany resorted to WWII tactics of trying to hurt any slavic person within arm's length racking up an impressive 2 yellows and one red. Croatia, not to be outdone, accrued 4 yellows proving that they had no intention of advancing further than the first knockout rounds. Neither Poland nor Austria interest me so I didn't watch, but the game ended in a 1-1 tie with Roger Guerreiro (he quit on his dreams of joining the Brazilian national team) scoring first for Poland and then Croatian born Ivica Vastic gave Austria a dignity saving goal off a penalty in the 93rd minute causing pandemonium in Vienna until Germany soundly defeats Austria in their next match.

Kabob Evans Predictions (because I too am a futbol expert, in that I play FIFA)-

Netherlands vs France;
France is a team in transition, Zidane is gone, Henry lost a step, and their coach is a crazy guy who plays players based on their zodiac signs. France's conservative approach is not a good a match for the Netherlands's 2 fast and 2 furious attack or their seizure inducing jerseys. Netherlands 3 - France 1

Italy vs Romania; People are drumming up a lot of expectations for Romania and really the only thing Romania has going for it is that many of their players are playing in Serie A and as such have some experience against the Italians. The Italians are the better team and will take care of Romania. Italy 2 - Romania 0
